EARTHLY THREADS

Earthly Threads explores degrees of reciprocity in the natural world, investigating the notion that our relationships with ourselves self parallel our relationships with the environment. The work incorporates organic growth patterns using methods of weaving, painting, sewing and photographic processes displayed in a textile based format. Billie’s instinctual process of mark making draws you into the intrinsic dichotomy of science and mysticism in spirituality, combining ethereal visuals with organic lines and movement. There is a progressive theme of femininity and playfulness within the patterns. The weaving and textile based works epitomize the threads that connect the world, connecting with ritualistic observations of eroticism in nature.
